8 Of The Best Bars in Rome (Chosen By Locals!)

Best Bars in Rome by The RomeHello Staff

While we have our own awesome hostel bar (The Barrel!), we also like sipping a cocktail or two after a long day of sightseeing. Luckily, many of the best bars in Rome also serve aperitivo, which is the combination of a cocktail (usually a Spritz!) and nibbles to satisfy your hunger before dinner. It’s an Italian tradition that is not to be missed!

So, if you’re heading to Rome soon, or you know someone else who is, make sure to bookmark this page! You’ll thank us later!

P.s. Aperitivo at our Barrel Bar costs just €6 and runs from 18:30pm every day! Click here to see more of the bar, and book your stay with us today to experience it for yourself.

Best Bars in Rome by The RomeHello Staff - Marco Martini Cocktail Bar

Marco Martini Cocktail Bar

Suggested by Matteo… it’s his brother’s bar!

We’re slightly biased here, because Marco Martini is the brother of our friendly Roman receptionist, Matteo! But once you’ve spent an evening in the bar’s fragrant lounge garden, you’ll see that this cocktail bar has earned it’s place on this list. Cocktails are priced from €12, but how many times will you get the chance to drink in a bar owned by a chef who has been awarded three Michelin Stars?

Address: Viale Aventino, 121, 00153
Opening hours: Monday – Friday: 12:30 – 14:30, 19:30 – 22:00; Saturday: 19:30 – 22:00.

Ai Tre Scalini

Suggested by Francesco

Ai Tre Scalini has been serving wine to Roman locals and visitors since 1895! It’s hugely popular with residents of the Monti neighbourhood where it’s located, and the perfect place to sip locally-sourced Italian wine accompanied with cold cuts of prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella. There is a warm atmosphere inside, but on a summer day you’ll see people spilling outside sipping glasses of wine and chatting with friends.

Address: Via Panisperna, 251, 00184
Opening hours: Monday – Sunday: 12:30 – 01:00.
